Creating Civilized Debate

  • Bozeman Public Library 626 East Main Street Bozeman, MT, 59715 United States (map)

How do we have civil discussions about divisive topics like climate change? Dr. Steve Running is an internationally recognized scholar in satellite-remote sensing data, global vegetation productivity, climate change and more. He has taught at the University of Montana since 1979 and among a long list of notable achievements was Steve's position as a chapter lead author for the Nobel Prize-winning 2007 Assessment of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.

In a conversation with Steve, we’ll explore how he’s navigated challenging discussions and how he responded when one student said, “I want to be able to argue with my father about climate change. What can I tell him?”
